Features of the Portal

1.Adopt a School

For A period of at least three years, a CSR company or donor can adopt a school by addressing critical infrastructure needs and working with them to improve overall school performance and attractiveness. In addition, you can support the school in areas such as building a badminton court, training teachers, or any other way that you and the school deem fit.

Schools to adopt can be identified by district, number of students enrolled, by cost for adoption, or scroll through the options. For more information on each school, click on its profile to learn more.

Adoption of A school would include bearing the capital cost for fulfillment of mandatory needs as depicted on the page of individual school under adopt A school category on this portal along with recurring expenditure for a period of at least three years.

When an Adopt a School relationship begins, the donor must submit a Proposal to the government. This will receive a response within 15 days, confirming that the school is available for adoption and how the goals of the company or donor match with the school. They will then work alongside relevant government officials at the district level of the school that they want to adopt and the school itself to design a 3 year Adoption Plan. This includes what sort of projects will occur at various times and how they will be completed.

Finally, the company or donor will choose who will implement the projects with the school: the government, an implementation partner (such as an NGO), or direct implementation (the donor himself or company itself).

If the government will implement the adoption, once the Adoption Plan is completed, the company or donor will send money for the adoption to officially begin. According to tax laws and donor needs, the amount of money can be donated in a lump sum initially or installments.

If you or a partner will implement the project, then the school and local government officials will provide you with infrastructure specifications and support you in the implementation of the project if necessary.

2.Create Your Own Project

CSR Companies can use this feature to fulfill their requirements in an easy, clear, and transparent way. Companies can create a project in which they choose which sort of intervention they want in schools, either based on projects created by the government or specifying their own interests. Then, they are able to specify the geographic location of schools they will support, which type of school will receive the funding (for example, a model school), and how many schools they will work with. Finally, the company can choose whether they want the government to implement the project or if they would like to do it themselves or through an implementation agency.

With the project created thus, a company can save a project and reference it while discussing with their CSR board before officially submitting the project proposal to the government. Once submitted, the government will respond to the proposal within 15 days, issuing infrastructure guidelines and connecting the company with local schools and government officers for implementation support.
